The Western Reserve

This blog has been created as an exploration of art and design in an area of Ohio known as the Western Reserve. This region was claimed by Connecticut and was originally part of that state. The land was sold, surveyed and settled, but the name stuck. Many of the settlers emigrated from Connecticut after the British set fire to their towns.

Being settled by a New England state gave the region a rich and unique culture that differs from other areas in Ohio. There is a rich history of art and design that has been and is being produced in Northeast Ohio and this will be an attempt to examine and inform.
